Birmingham Airport (airport code BHX) is located 13 kilometers southeast of Birmingham, England, and is almost midway between London and Manchester. The airport is Top 50 for busiest European airports with over 9 million passengers annually. Travelers getting to the airport can do so by car using the M42 or can reach the train via the free Air-Rail Link shuttle. Local and long-distance buses are also available. The airport has two terminals, 1 and 2, connected by the Millennium Link walkway. The new three-story International Pier of Terminal 1 opened in 2009. The airport has over 20 airlines flying to five continents. Birmingham is also the closest airport to Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon.
