Piarco International Airport (airport code POS) is located in Piarco on the Caribbean island of Trinidad and serves the two-island republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The airport is about 25 kilometers east of the capital Port of Spain. Completed in 2001, the airport built a new terminal building to replace the old building that now handles cargo. Nineteen airlines provide service to 27 international destinations for over 2 million travelers each year. Trinidad is the industrial capital with oil, natural gas and steel industries while Tobago is the draw of tourists. Birthplace of the steel drum and calypso music, Trinidad and Tobago are the southernmost islands of the West Indies.
