The Palma de Mallorca Airport (airport code PMI) was originally created to handle the island's postal service and now handles over 20 million people each year. Known in English as Majorca, Mallorca Airport has one terminal with four modules, labeled A, B, C, and D, branching from it. Although located 8 kilometers from the capital, everything on the island is easily connected by car, bus or taxi. Mallorca Airport is owned by Aena Aeropuertos as are 47 other Spanish airports. Conscious of the environment, Mallorca Airport has ISO certification as well as continued noise reduction and insulation practices with surrounding residential areas. Located in the Mediterranean Sea, the island of Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and has 550 kilometers of coastline. It receives 11 million visitors annually with Germany accounting for the largest number of travelers while Spain and the UK follow close behind.
