Paphos (or Pafos) International Airport (airport code PFO) is located 6.5 kilometers southeast of the city of Paphos on the island of Cyprus in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. Refurbished in 2008, the airport's main terminal handles about 2 million passengers annually. Airport shuttles and taxis are most commonly used for transport and rental cars are also available. A new airport highway is planned to cut down on traffic congestion. Paphos Airport has over 30 air carriers linking the island to Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Referred to as the "Island of Aphrodite," Cyprus is a sunny getaway featuring ancient ruins, rugged mountains and inviting beaches along the coastline.
