Midway International Airport (airport code MDW) in Chicago, Illinois, is Chicago's original airport, formerly called Chicago Municipal Airport, built in 1923. Midway has one Main Terminal and three concourses, A, B, and C, that are connected by the Midway Boulevard full of restaurants and retail shops. A variety of low-cost carriers serve the airport such as Southwest Airlines, Frontier Airlines and AirTran Airways. Only 8 miles from the downtown Loop, passengers can get to downtown Chicago by car on the Stevenson Expressway or by rail on the Chicago Transit Authority's Orange Line. One of top 30 busiest airports in the United States, Midway sees over 17 million passengers each year.
