Kos International Hippocrates Airport (airport code KGS) is located on the Greek island of Kos and is about 27 kilometers from the center of Kos town. Kos is a small island so buses, taxis and cars can provide easy transport not only from the airport, but all around the island. The airport has one Main Terminal. Over 30 airlines cater to more than 1.5 million passengers each year, usually with seasonal service to this mostly tourist destination. An hour flight from Athens, Aegean Airlines and Olympic Airlines handle the majority of domestic flights. Kos is the birthplace of Hippocrates, the "Father of Western Medicine," for whom the airport is named.
