Imam Khomaini International Airport (airport code IKA) is located 30 kilometers southwest of central Tehran, Iran, and is accessible by car, taxi and bus via the Tehran-Qom Freeway. Twenty-three air carriers provide service to over 12 million passengers each year with destinations throughout the country and in Europe and Asia. The airport has one terminal between two concourses. There is also a CIP lounge for premium passengers. For travel within the country, a shuttle bus links Tehran Airport with Mehrabad Airport, which handles domestic flights. Construction is underway for an extension of the Tehran Metro to reach the airport as well as construction of a new airport hotel.
