Newark Liberty International Airport (airport code EWR) opened in 1928 making it the nation's oldest airfield and it contains the country's first commercial airline terminal. Gateway to the 2nd largest metropolitan area in the world (only 14 miles from Manhattan), Newark Liberty serves a crucial role in the New York-New Jersey-Pennsylvania metropolitan area.
